Copa Carnavalo

Info

Copa Cavavalo is Team Liquid Brazil's open cup, amateur players competing inside the Alienware Training Facility, on the same stage the pros use. Each edition takes on a Brazilian festivity, and the third one landed on Carnival. That gave me the whole visual argument: the loudest, most collective thing the country does, aimed at a tournament whose point is that anyone can walk in and play.

The brief behind it was a sponsorship problem. Visa needed to reach Gen Z and Alpha, and those generations do not register logo placement, they register experiences they were part of. So the answer could not be a badge in a corner. I built the edition as a single themed world and let the sponsor live inside it: an event identity and key visual, the illustration work that carried the Carnival language, the full broadcast package, countdown, overlays, team cards, replay and victory screens, the in-game bar, and the social and motion pieces that announced it, counted it down and closed it.

It ran as a real party, not a stream with decorations: a FanFest at the facility, abadás customized on the spot, percussion, food, and a trophy for the winners. As lead designer I directed the art across all of it, drew the illustrations and made the motion, which is what kept the tournament, the venue and the campaign reading as one thing.
